About the Challenge
A leading producer of specialty and gourmet foods wanted to increase the capacity and effectiveness of their formulation and blending processes.  Ingredients of different viscosities – spices, flavors, vinegars, oils, sugar, purees – were a batching challenge. And employees wanted easy access to the tanks instead of building a platform for them around the unit.

Custom Multi-Mixer Solution
Walker Engineered Products suggested the Multi-Mixer with its capabilities for excellent dispersion, concurrent heating and cooling, precise agitation, and its ability for high speed mixing of viscous products.  We designed and fabricated a custom Multi-Mixer configured to a greater diameter than a standard model.  It has a lower height to the top of the vessel.  This gives it a more squat shape at an ergonomic height, enabling operators to add ingredients directly into the tank.

The specialties producer found the outcome extraordinary.  The design of the high shear mixer impeller at the bottom of the Multi-Mixer coupled with the scraper agitator means more rapid mixing and dispersion of ingredients.  Additionally, there are the heating, cooling, and cooking abilities and ease of cleaning and maintenance. Overall, the use of the Walker Multi-Mixer has resulted in dramatically reduced batching times and in processing the product much more quickly and efficiently.  And it has made for some very pleased operators.
